Welcome to the homepage of Brown Trout Cre8tive Ltd! With over 25 years of fly fishing experience I can put you into lowland trout with a 2-4lb average or headwater browns averaging 4-6lbs. Occasionally fish up to the magical 10lbs+ figure are encountered! Multi day options to Central North Island lakes and rivers, and also extended South Island trips available. River fishing is mostly seasonal from October 1 until April 30 in New Zealand, so please email for more details.

Wellington has some of New Zealand's finest uncrowded fly fishing! Relatively unheard of, it's trout fishing in the headwaters of the Tararua Ranges Rivers equals that of the South Island and browns to 6lbs+ can be commonly encounted on both dry fly and nymph. Nearly all my fishing is to sighted fish, so Polaroid's are essential. I really love the experience and the sights you see on the river, the scenery often means more to me than the fishing! Many of the rivers I fish are quite rugged with difficult, rough and bouldery terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness is required for any headwater fly fishing trips, we are also not a casting clinic and it is expected you will have some fly fishing experience as many of the fish are large and are on a "you only get one chance basis".
If time is short, or you are just in Wellington for a few hours, I can also cater to your needs with the fantastic Hutt and Wainuiomata rivers on our doorstep, just a short drive from the city. Both rivers yield good numbers of small to medium sized trout. If you want to catch the fish of a lifetime on ultra-light tackle (3lb line), I can put you into Salmon that average between 12 and 20lbs on a week long excursion to the Salmon runs of South Westland - (season limited *conditions apply) For more detailed information please contact me via the contact menu.
